OUR PROGRAM

Our program

Healthy Time For Me is a program that was started by a group of nurses in Kansas City that wanted to make healthier lifestyle choices. Some of us wanted to lose weight, some wanted to reduce stress, and others wanted to learn new tips on staying healthy. We knew that if we joined together, many of the resources that were available in the community would help us on our mission. As people began to hear about our plans, many became interested in joining. As a result, we decided that it was easier to reserve a room in various community hospitals to hold our meetings. These meetings are proving to be a spark that we are able to use to continue to make positive changes in our lives.

Our ideas are simple, yet planning them took a lot of time and effort. At this time, we have this website and are creating a podcast so that anyone, anywhere can listen to our messages of hope. Our organization is growing and we could not be more excited about it.

We love this program and cannot imagine our lives without it. It has sparked a new life in each of us. It is through that light that we are able to share our experiences with the communities that we serve. If you are interested in learning more about our program, please visit the "contact page" and send us your information. We will make sure that one of us gets back to you as soon as possible.

Healthy Time For Me is about learning to live our best lives now. It is about discovering our dreams and attaining them.  It is about motivation, self-reflection, support, goal setting/achieving, regaining health, and community. It is about putting our best foot forward and living our best life now.

Namaste.

Steps to change anything

  1. Admit that there is something that you want to change.  See how it is causing a problem in your life plan.
  2. Ask for help. We we believe that humans were meant to work together.
  3. Expand your resources. Find answers in the community and with each other.
  4. Seek to realize what has not worked in the past and why it has not worked. What can you change?
  5. Learn that positive changes do not need to happen all at once. Little changes will eventually make big ones.
  6. Realize that you do not have to be perfect. Everyone has setbacks. Learn from those setbacks and continue to move forward.
  7. Celebrate the little victories. No matter how small they seem, they are moving you in the right direction.
  8. Reflect at the end of each day. What improvements to your life did you make today? What areas can you still make minor improvements to?
  9. Share freely what you have learned with others.

These are the simple suggestions that we have found work.

Our program is offered as a community service. We do not require any membership dues. The online stores are meant as a small way to help support the website, podcast, marketing, and some of the professionals that we call upon.
The Basic Design of our program

Our program is a community service. There is no fee to join, however we do accept donations so that we can continue to carry the message of hope. The only requirement for membership is a desire to live healthier. We do not support any one diet or exercise plan. Those of us that have been successful in certain areas of health, may discuss what worked for them. That does not mean that same avenue will work for you. Our main purpose is to motivate each other, inspire each other, to gain information from professionals in the community about various health topics, and to give each other support along the way. We are not here to preach or criticize.

This program has three main parts.

Support Sessions: We recommend these sessions be held at least every other week on the same day of the week. These sessions are times when members of the program can bring up topics that the group discusses in a round robin session. Members are encouraged not to preach. We have found that it is most helpful when each member is able to share his/her own experiences in regards to the subject. These experiences can be shortcomings or solutions that the member has discovered worked for him/her.

Focus Session: We recommend that focus sessions be held at least one time a month. They involve having a member of the community come in and discuss a topic. Sometimes, they may even involve group participation. Some of the sessions that we have found most interesting are: Time with a life coach, time with a nutritionist, Reiki sessions, aromatherapy, paint time, and more. The more creative and inspiring these sessions are, the better!

Special Interest Groups: These are groups formed by our members for specific activities. Some of the activities may include charity walks, cooking classes, and even exercising classes. These involve one or more members announcing that they are are interested in xyz and they want to know if anyone would like to join them.
